Film Fan Fridays for Friday January 26, 2007!!

Hello Film Fans and Fanatics!!!

This weeks releases include a lot of writer/director works, all but one are just that! We also have our first Canadian release of the year with Ross Weber's Mount Pleasant. The remaining releases are all across the board from romantic comedy (Catch and Release) to teen comedy (Epic Movie) to horror (Blood and Chocolate) to action (Smokin' Aces).

If none of those tickle your fancy, you can peruse the Oscar nominations film, announced earlier this week. How exciting! Some of the nominations didn't come as a huge surprize (Dreamgirls, Babel, The Queen) and some, at least for me, did (Blood Diamond with 5, Apocalypto with 3). I've very happy to see that Little Miss Sunshine is up for quite a few, what an amazing film. I'm surprized I haven't seen more of the nominated films, only 7 as of the time when the nominations were announced. I wonder how many I'll make it through this year! How about you?

Have a great weekend!

Shannon

All of a sudden there are all these movies I want to see and I can see them! Pan's Labyrinth is on at the Odeon with Miss Potter although we're totally broke from my birthday and the dentist, I may have to wait ANOTHER week to go to the movies.

I am so happy that Little Miss Sunshine is getting so much attention. I think smaller budget movies are finally getting recognized and they're certainly drawing a lot of actor's attention. That was a stellar cast.

R said that when they showed the preview for Blood and Chocolate that everyone seemed to like it until they heard the title which is an odd one but the movie looks great.
